#appdev

One of the most vital aspects of our composting unit is its Bluetooth app control capabilities. This is why we are developing an app that will be paired with one of our composting units.  This app provides a convenient and easy-to-use platform for restaurants to control their composter cycles.  Using knowledge from our Digital Electronics, Computer Engineering, and AP Computer Science Principles courses, our team members first designed a workflow diagram for the app, planning the different routes and choices for the user, as well as creating a tentative draft of the user interface.  Next, the team programmed the app using MIT App Inventor and built a corresponding Arduino Uno Board to simulate the Bluetooth interface of the composter. After significant testing, troubleshooting, and revision, the app is accurately receiving a Bluetooth signal and responding accordingly.  Come see our functioning app at our booth at the CT Student Innovation Expo!

Using Microsoft Sway, we created a visual that shows the process we used to develop our app.
