Target Audience

Who is our target audience?

The primary target location for WASTEless is metropolitan and urban areas.  Food can be composted cheaply and efficiently in suburbs and rural communities via traditional compost piles.  However, city residents are inhibited by the lack of space, the unpleasant odors, and the rodents that infest many city streets and dwellings.  Our product is superior to other commercial units because it specifically addresses each of these problems.

More narrowly, the target audience of the project is restaurants.  Restaurants in cities typically don’t participate in composting.  However, new ordinances passed in major cities across America are mandating composting for restaurants.  This creates a market for WASTEless and similar services.  We are specifically focusing on are those restaurants that market themselves as part of the recent “farm-to-table” corporate responsibility trend.  This type of restaurant typically uses locally-grown produce and sustainably-harvested meat and dairy.  Their goal is to serve customers who appreciate and care about the fresh ingredients and the methods in which they were obtained.  Using composted soil to grow crops for these restaurants would increase the sustainability for these businesses, as well as providing an eco-friendly method of disposing of their food waste.
